Description:
Peer and community mentoring is a special kind of relationship where mentors share their personal experiences and professional expertise with other individuals who, at different stages and situations in their lives, recognise the potential benefit from a friendly and supportive conversation. Peer and community mentors agree to operate within the framework of the Code of Ethics of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council.
Peer and community mentoring conversations may cover, just for example and not exclusively, situations where individuals are facing retirement, seeking full-time or voluntary work, selling a business or house, aiming for an academic or professional qualification, completing a research project, writing a book or simply needing someone to talk to outside the family. Peer and community mentors are not usually professional Counsellors, Psychologists or Social Workers but people with practical experience of holding sympathetic, developmental and problem solving conversations.
Brief description: The Group will decide what, if anything, members want to get involved in as well as proividing mentoring to each other
